Built by drinkers. Driven by principle.

CARA was born out of frustration, the kind that comes from trying to buy whisky with integrity, only to be met with silence, marketing fog, or worse: caramel and chill filters hidden in fine print.

CARA is a growing standard, shaped by a small group of people who care what goes into the bottle, and what doesn’t.

It’s not a campaign. It’s a response.

The CARA Collective

Here are the five individuals who stand behind CARA. Not whisky influencers. Not industry insiders. Just people who believe the truth should be easier to find.

Simon Pykett

Founder of CARA. A data security consultant by trade, Simon built this platform out of equal parts stubbornness and common sense. He believes whisky should be made with integrity, and labelled with honesty. No additives. No filters. No nonsense.

Jake Brown

Marine engineer with a nose for whisky that borders on unnatural. Jake’s the kind of person who can spot a fake cask finish before the bottle’s even opened. Single malts are his weapon of choice, especially the ones with real weight behind them.

Pete Clayton

A working artist who drinks like he paints, with bold lines and no interest in compromise. Pete is allergic to anything watered-down, and has a genuine hatred for caramel colouring disguised as “deep heritage”.

Phil Stansfield

Phil works in digital marketing sales, but you wouldn’t know it when he talks about sherry casks. He’s analytical, opinionated, and proudly obsessive about flavour integrity. If it’s fake, filtered, or dressed up for shelf appeal, he’s not interested.

Richard Forshaw-Smith

Richard works in digital marketing and drinks whisky with intent. He’s got an eye for brands that do things properly, and very little patience for those that don’t. From Islay peat bombs to obscure single casks, he knows what he likes and why it matters.

Natural whiskies, verified and logged.

Every bottle here meets the CARA standard; no added colour, no chill filtration, no compromises. These aren’t reviews. They’re reference points. Each entry gives you the clarity you need to buy with confidence, without reading between the lines.
